Hello Sophomores!!

Welcome to Ms Robinson’s Sophomore Year Blog 2011/2012.

Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised. No barrier of the senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourses of my book friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.

I think Hellen Keller is trying to say that when it comes to literature she doesn’t hold anything back. She is very opened when she talks about Literature, and she gets a lot of pleasure talking about it with her friends.

I think Hellen Keller is a symbol for never giving up and even when it comes to something like literature she doesnt give up because of her flaws instead she uses her strengths and still has a great time.

  3. linda gindi 2-s

i think helen keller’s statement on literature is great because even though she was blind she still stayed hopeful about life. This statement is just one example of the great things she said and did!

I think Hellen keller feels very comfortable with literaterature. I would most probably guess that this was her favorite subject. Literature is also my favorite subject as well. I feel like there is no right or wrong with literature, its your opinions.
-Literature is my favorite subject. I don’t feel shy to give my answers.
Here, I am allowed to most of the time give my opinions.
I enjoy all the discourses with my book friends.
They talk to me the way I would talk to them.

I think Helen Keller is saying that despite being deaf and blind, she is still able to have a great time talking about literature with her friends. She was a great activist and supporter for people with disabilities.

Wow! This really makes you think of how amazing Hellen Keller was. This really makes me wonder how she lived with out hearing or seeing and she was still so intelegent. Helen Keller really inspired me to work to my fullest ability because thank god I am one of the more fortunate people in this world and I shouldnt take this for granted.
-Literature is my favorite subject. I am always thinking about discourses of my book friends. They talk to me every night.

  7. Billy Dayan 2R

I think Helen Keller is a great inspiration to blind and deaf people. She shows that even though has disabilities she can still enjoy literature. She didnt let her disabilities get in the way of her life.

  8. Nina Esses 2R

Literature is my enemy. Here, I am not wanted. I have angry discourses with my book friends. They talk to me about the lack of appreciation I have for poems and storys.

  9. Sara Rezak 2R

Helen Keller is now my hero. Her quote is so inspirational because even though she was blind, it didnt hold her back from life. Her outlook on literature really taught me a lot.

    -Literature is my best friend.
    Here, i am not shy.
I have intresting discourses with my book friends.
They talk to me all the time without fail.

I think Helen Keler shows us to never give up. Even though she was not able to do most things because she was blind and deaf she still tried to do as much as she can. I think she loves literature because when she talks about it she can let everything out.

  11. Gail Mosseri 2-R

i think Helen Keler is trying to explain that she feels that when it comes to literature she is no longer uncomfortable or handicap. Although she is blind and deaf in the real world, she feels comfortable and treated as an equal when it comes to literature. Helen is no longer

This post that I just read about Helen Keller, is really powerful. She is blind AND deaf yet she loves literature. In fact she doesn’t just love it, it is her Utopia (perfect world). That is very inspirational to me

  14. Jayne Kassin - 2R

I think that this quote by Helen Keller can inspire people to love literature. Anyone can enjoy literature because even herself being handicap she still loves it.

  15. Michelle Anzaroot 2-R

I really like that literature can do so much for Helen Keller. Its nice that she can feel comfortable and fit in with something even in her condition. She hasn’t been able to experience many things and reading is taking her to her own paradise.

  16. Shaya Tawil

Hellen Keller is a role model to everyone in the world. Even though she is disabled and gets made fun of she enjoys literature because in literature anything can happen. Also literature is her friend that can make her happy and feel good about herself.

it is amazing how Hellen Keller had a life of books and writing. Hellen is a great person to look at when you feel like you cant do something or something is too hard for you

  18. Sylvia Dweck 2S

I agree that Helen Keller is a role model. She is displaying that she works with what she has. Although she is blind, that won’t stop her. This teaches us that we should be grateful for what we have and nothing should ever stop us from doing something we love.

  19. It is quite evident that Helen Keller has a love for the arts and literature. Although she was disabled, she was still able to successfully express her ideas and emotions. Ms. Keller is a true role model for myself and many other young writers. She has instilled a sense of confidence in me that i have never felt before. I am looking forward to write the various assigned essays for this semester!

sylvia is definitely right i think that this quote is saying that Helen Keller might have been different but she was able to fit in. she could understand literature very well and its not awkward at all.

  21. David Basher 2R

Helen Keller expresses through this quote the positive outlook on her life, instead of complaining about her disabilities are she embraces them by saying it has, “No barrier of the senses shuts me out.” Also expressing how in literature it was almost like her escape for disabilities because she says, “talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.” How when it came to literature she had no disability or weakness, she felt equal to everyone else.

  22. Albert Arazi 2-s

Helen Keller is an outstanding human being… nothing could’ve ever stopped her from doing what she loved. we can learn so many lessons from her. It would’ve been an honor if we could’ve actually met her in person. unfortunately we can’t, reading about her and studying her life will just have to suffice…

  23. Jacqueline Lazar ~2T

I think Helen Keller is trying to say that she feels that when she reads she can understand it easily. Helen Keller probably had a very difficult time throughout her life since she was blind and deaf. I think she feels that she can read without feeling different from others.

  24. Lauren Berkovits 2-S

I think Helen Keller is trying to tell us the benefits of expressing yourself through literature and not to hold anything back. Literature was her way of escaping the world and her disabilities. She enjoys literature because when she discusses it she feels like she fits in and she doesnt have to feel embarrassed or awkward.
